DALab San Paulo Workshop: Fashion Colloquia
During the Sao Paulo Fashion Colloquia, Digital Anthropology Lab worked with Dr Bruna Petreca (RCA) to investigate whether fashion designers could gain enough information from an interactive digital textile swatch to use it as the basis to design a real, physical garment? Considering the importance of haptics and the senses in digital media and hands on making, we documented how participants’ design outcomes and understanding of appropriate manufacturing techniques differed if they were inspired by a physical or digital textile swatch.

DALAb leading Fashion-Tech Workshop in Linz
Professor Jane Harris was invited speaker at the inaugural Fashion & Textile Symposium, FAT # 1 Symposium, at the new University of Art and Design in Linz. A vision of the future of fashion, in conjunction with technology, quickly raises questions of privacy, body optimization, and issues of economy and ecology. But it also offers the possibility for change. The FATsymposium questioned the traditional systems of fashion and associated global challenges. Technology was explored as a catalyst for innovative and sustainable design solutions and alternative aesthetic concepts.
